Field of Interest
Millions of inhabitants are living on volcanoes or along active faults. Infrastructures are developing rapidly in these vulnerable areas, and the economy requires the utilization of land for agriculture and urban growth. But these areas are frequently affected by devastating earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, which kill thousand of people every year, destroy the social tissue, and disturb for long time the economy. A lot of techniques have been applied to understand and monitor seismotectonic and volcanic activity with the final objective of forecasting an impeding event. The VEML focuses on combined magnetic, electric and ElectroMagnetic (EM) studies and integrates the EM observations in multi-disciplinary researches.
